BUTLIN'S RAISES MORE MONEY THAN EVER BEFORE FOR GOSH CHARITY

ALMOST £200,000 RAISED IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS

Hemel Hempstead, 11 June 2024 - Butlin’s, the Home of Entertainment, is celebrating a record-breaking fundraising year for charity partner Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity).

Through challenging team fundraisers and generous guest donations, an incredible £191,952.75 has been raised over the last 12 months. This record-breaking amount was raised during the first year of a five-year pledge to raise £1million as a Founder Partner of the Children’s Cancer Centre — a new facility that GOSH Charity is raising money to help build at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as part of its Build it. Beat it. fundraising appeal. This follows on from the first £1million fundraising milestone that was reached in 2022.

Team members across all three of Butlin’s resorts and its central support centre have gone above and beyond in their challenge to raise money for GOSH Charity. Fundraising has come from the team taking part in marathons, skydives, treks and different events across resorts.

Guest donations have also played a huge part in the record-breaking year with £2 for every Binkie Bear sold in the Butlin’s Store going to GOSH Charity.

Jon Hendry Pickup, Butlin’s CEO said: “Thanks to the hard work of our team and guests it’s absolutely amazing to announce that we’ve achieved a record year of fundraising for GOSH Charity. Our team set themselves incredible challenges to raise money and as a business we know that every penny raised goes to this fantastic cause. This year marks the start of a five-year fundraising pledge where we’ll be looking to hit the million-pound mark by 2028.”

Liz Tait, GOSH Charity’s Director of Fundraising, said: “The funds raised by Butlin’s since we first partnered with them almost a decade ago have so far helped make an enormous difference to the lives of seriously ill children from across the UK who are treated at GOSH.

“And now, with GOSH Charity in the midst of its biggest ever fundraising appeal to help build a new Children’s Cancer Centre, we are so grateful to Butlin’s for raising such a fantastic sum in their first year as a Founder Partner. This will take us a step further towards our goal of raising £300m to help build this ground-breaking new facility and drive transformation in children’s cancer care to save more lives.”

GOSH Charity has been the chosen charity partner since January 2015 however the relationship started well before 2015. Founder Sir Billy Butlin donated funds to purchase the UK’s first paediatric CT scanner at the hospital back in 1977.
