Butlin’s, the Home of Entertainment, is a market leader in family holidays, promising endless fun for all age groups with so much included in the price of a break. Alongside family breaks, there’s also Butlin’s Big Weekenders. These are exclusively for adults, with packages including decade-themed parties and genre-specific music weekends and festivals that run throughout the year. On top of this, Butlin’s also delivers memorable corporate events from board meetings and team-building days to product launches and themed gala dinners. This diversified offering sees us welcome around 1.5 million guests per year across our three resorts, which are located in Bognor Regis (West Sussex), Minehead (Somerset) and Skegness (Lincolnshire). As of September 2022, Butlin’s is owned by a company backed by the Harris family.
OUR STORY
In 1936, Billy Butlin changed the face of British holidays. His aim was to make the British seaside break accessible to all.
Inspired by Canadian holiday camps, he envisioned a 'place of colour and happiness'. Quality entertainment and activities would be provided, come rain or shine, so that families could really enjoy their time together.
So, Billy bought a plot of land in Skegness and set about making his dream a reality. He pioneered a whole new way for British families to holiday, underpinned by an all-inclusive approach and personal, friendly service provided by what became our iconic Redcoats.
A curious entrepreneur, Billy constantly scanned the globe for the next exciting amusement. He introduced a number of firsts to the UK, including the monorail, dodgems and the largest outdoor heated pool. He also had a great interest in architecture, and as a result placed equal emphasis on the visual presentation of the resort.
