WET WET WET'S HISTORY
As the band has performed to over 4 million, in dozens of countries worldwide, you may be wondering where all this success started.
Well, Wet Wet Wet are a Scottish pop band that scored success with several hits in both British and international charts in both the 80s and 90s.
After forming in Clydebank, Scotland in 1982, the band coined their name from the Scritti Politti song, ‘Gettin, havin’ and holdin’ inspired by the lyrics ‘It's tired of joking - wet, wet with tears’. However, Wet Wet Wet certainly weren’t dampened in their spirits to make it big.
Just over 10 years later, Wet Wet Wet made it big with their cover version of The Troggs’ single ‘Love is All Around’ in 1994. This featured on the soundtrack to the greatly anticipated film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
Throughout the rest of the 1990s, the band had formed a loyal fan following in the UK. After Pellow and Tommy Cunningham resigned from the band, they both returned in 2003 with Graeme Clark and Neil Mitchell to create their new single ‘All I Want’, later being released in October 2004.
After releasing this hit, Wet Wet Wet joined in 2004 for an outstanding UK tour, after which they released a Greatest Hits album.
Shortly after, 2005 saw Wet Wet Wet play at the Summer Weekender in England, following being a headliner at Live 8 Edinburgh.
Last but certainly not least, Wet Wet Wet’s latest album Timeless was released in 2007 and has made great moves in the world of pop music.
