Butlins would like to invite you to be a Responsible Visitor and help us do our bit for the environment. Here are some of the things that you can do during your stay to help us.
• Please help us to conserve energy on the resort by switching off lights and closing any windows if the heating is on. • Turn off any electrical equipment when not in use; avoid leaving items on standby or adaptors plugged in but not connected items rather than leaving them on standby.
• We hope that as part of your visit to one of our Resorts you will take an opportunity to explore the local area. Why not leave the car behind if only for a day! • Why not walk, cycle or take the bus; we have excellent bus services outside the main entrance.
• Waste less and help us to reduce our impact on the environment by recycling any waste that you have using the recycling facilities on the site. If you have any queries about recycling ask our green rangers for help! • Use ‘bags for life’ and cut down on plastic use
• Please use water wisely. Don’t run the tap when brushing your teeth and help us to save water by adhering to our towel policies and supporting other water-saving initiatives onsite.
• We are very keen to support local businesses, so why not support local shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions in the local area. • Why not also support local farmers and producers by visiting farmers markets and buying local and regional produce
• Support and Respect Local Heritage, Culture and Our Natural Surroundings • There is a wealth of heritage and cultural attractions locally. Why not visit them as well as local events and festivals • Help us to look after our fantastic environment; avoid littering the beach and the countryside by using the bin and recycling your waste onsite
• We want you to have a fantastic experience at Butlins so please follow our Responsible Visitor Charter to make sure that your holiday is as sustainable as possible! Our Resort Rangers like to do everything they can to be kinder to the environment. With their help, we have reduced our electricity usage by asking guests to make sure they switch off all electrical items when they are leaving their accommodation. • We also have Bob the Builder™ and his friends on hand to educate and encourage greener thinking.
• Businesses opting to join Green Tourism are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more. Those businesses that meet the required standard, receive a Bronze, Silver, or Gold award based on their level of achievement. The current network of members is comprised of a wide range of business types, including accommodation providers, visitor attractions, corporate offices and others. • See www.green-business.co.uk for more information
