The Butlins National Mineworkers' Open Brass Band Festival 2009 - Featuring the Butlins Youth Championships
Promises to deliver it's most spectacular weekend of competition and entertainment yet at Butlins Skegness, Fri 16 - Mon 19 January 2009.
PRIZE FUND OF OVER £28,000
This year the organisers have increased the prize fund and have announced some challenging test pieces:
Harrison's Dream (Championship Section)
Hostile Skies (First Section)
Crusade (Second Section)
Haydock Variations (Third Section)
The Four Noble Truths (Fourth Section)
All sections will compete on Saturday 17 January performing their set work whilst the Championship Entertainment Contest takes place on Sunday 18 January.
A GALAXY OF STARS
There will be plenty of well known brass stars including Douglas Yeo, Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Desford Colliery Band and Grimestein Oompah Band giving live performances. PLUS Stan Lippeatt and Friends, Butlins own brass band chat show.
TRADE STANDS GALORE
There will be plenty of trade stands which are an essential part of all brass band festivals, the Association of Brass Band Traders will be providing their usual excellent exhibition throughout the event.
Couples, families and groups of friends can combine their love of brass band music with a short break, with prices starting from
£52* per person per break.
