Butlins Bognor Regis and Minehead are celebrating today as their beaches have been recommended in the Good Beach Guide 2011 by the Marine Conservation Society. The beaches have been named as two of the cleanest in the country, smashing mandatory targets for coastal cleanliness set by the EU.
As well as Bognor Regis and Minehead, Butlins beloved beach at its Skegness resort is also among this year's list of 461 across the UK and the Channel Islands which experts say are the cleanest. Gaining "recommended status" by the MCS means that cleanliness standards are way above compulsory guidelines when it comes to things like sea water purity.
Dermot King, Butlins Managing Director said “At Butlins we are lucky to have such beautiful natural attractions as our beaches. We never take them for granted and work hard with local Councils to ensure they are among the best in the UK.
“The inclusion in the Good Beach Guide is testimony to a lot of work that goes on to make them coastal jewels in our crown and we're delighted this has been recognised."
